Data protection. Your address is sent to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) for geocoding. Depending on the country, address or coordinates are additionally sent to official building services such as PDOK/3D BAG, City of Vienna, GUGiK, IGN, Digitaal Vlaanderen, ACT, Catastro, ČÚZK as well as the Geoportals of Berlin and Hamburg; Overpass (OpenStreetMap) serves as a fallback. For climate and solar values, location coordinates are transmitted to NASA POWER and PVGIS. In the 3D view your browser loads the official aerial image of the respective state in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia (in Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic and Luxembourg that of the national survey authority), in North Rhine-Westphalia additionally the photo model from oblique aerial images by Geobasis NRW, and free street photos from Panoramax (only the building's location coordinates, no address text); the services see your IP address in the process. In Hamburg your browser loads the building model with facade photos from our Hamburg model service (powersmartcoat.com, location coordinates only, the address is not stored). Queries may be repeated depending on the data source. We do not store the address; storage only takes place when you expressly agree below. Privacy policy
How is this calculated?
- Facade area. We prefer official 3D building models (LoD2) where available: North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Bavaria. In other covered areas we use official building outlines and height or storey data; if the official query fails, OpenStreetMap follows. An official outline with a height value gives a calculated area but no complete 3D wall model. If a height is missing, outer perimeter × storeys × 3 m is explicitly an estimate; you can change the suggested storeys. Walls adjoining a neighbouring building are not counted. The data do not contain windows and doors: we deduct a flat 19.8 % window share (estimate: average of 74 measured facades in Ingolstadt, range 13.7 to 27.1 %; for modern buildings the share may differ, your input in the “Window share” field takes precedence). If the match is not right, enter the area yourself.
- Attic floor (PScoat interior variant). This means the horizontal top-floor ceiling, not the sloping outer surface of the roof. Its area corresponds to the building footprint (or your input) and feeds into investment and savings. Pigmentation applies to the facade only.
- Year of construction and components. The year of construction determines typical U-values of exterior wall, attic floor, windows and floor as well as a typical heating energy demand. These are guide values for buildings of Central European construction, not a measurement of your home. In Germany we suggest a year of construction from the 2022 census (most common construction-year class of the buildings in your immediate surroundings) -- please check briefly and change if necessary.
- Building type. Detached, semi-detached, terraced or apartment building is suggested from detected neighbouring walls, map data and storeys. A classification for orientation only, it does not feed into the estimate.
- Calculation per package. Each package brings facade and attic floor to the U-value of its U-value guarantee (Easy 0.8 · Plus 0.2 · Premium 0.11 · Complete 0.1 W/(m²K), 1 mm incl. application, case study). Windows, floor and ventilation remain unchanged. The saved heating energy results from the share that facade and attic floor have in the total heat loss. The energy class is calculated from this according to the GEG, not predefined.
- Heat loss through facade and attic floor. The indicator compares the area-weighted U-value of facade and attic floor today and with the package (1 − Upackage ÷ Utoday, whole percent). It shows the effect on these two components; the energy class rates the whole house including windows, heating and hot water.
- Climate. In Germany the nearest weather station of the German Weather Service provides the heating degree days (mean of the years 2011 to 2025), the reference is 3,519 Kd/a. Worldwide we use the heating and cooling degree days of NASA POWER (mean 2001–2020, 0.5° grid).
- Energy class today. (Heating energy plus a flat 14 kWh/(m²·a) for hot water) ÷ seasonal performance factor or annual efficiency of your chosen heating type (“Your heating today”, step 2, also switchable in the result), classified according to the A+ to H scale of the Building Energy Act (GEG, annex 10).
- Air conditioning. If you have air conditioning, we calculate the cooling demand from cooling degree days, thermal insulation and solar radiation. The light PScoat facade reflects 92 % of solar radiation (technical data sheet PSC 250T ECO/HP). We never calculate the cooling savings higher than 50 % (data sheet: reduction of heating/air-conditioning costs by up to 50 %).
- Savings and payback. Savings = final energy difference (today minus with package, both ÷ seasonal performance factor or annual efficiency of your chosen heating type) × energy price. The energy price under “Adjust assumptions” is pre-filled automatically with that heating type's energy price when you choose it (Eurostat household price of the country for the country price, otherwise sample calculation S10192), but can be changed at any time – if you change it yourself, your value applies. Investment = square-metre price of the package × (facade without windows plus attic floor), with pigmentation plus €250 per started 18 m² of facade. Payback = investment ÷ annual savings, as a range. Prices change, and so do energy prices.
- Heating costs by heating type. Final energy = (heat demand after renovation + flat 12.5 kWh/(m²·a) hot water) ÷ seasonal performance factor or annual efficiency (heat pump air-to-water 3.5 · split air conditioner air-to-air 4.0 · gas condensing 90 % · oil 85 % · direct electric heating/night storage 1.0, physically 1:1), at energy prices electricity 31.0 · natural gas 12.5 · heating oil 16.7 ct/kWh (sample calculation heat demand S10192, early October 2026, national average). The same five heating types can be chosen as “Your heating today” and thus also determine the main result and the energy class above. Heating load roughly = (HT + HV) × 32 K (20 °C inside, −12 °C outside), not a calculation according to DIN EN 12831.
- Basement ceiling and sloping roof surfaces. Optional additional areas, using the same share method as facade/attic floor, with temperature correction factor basement ceiling 0.6 and sloping roof surfaces 1.0 (sample calculation S10192, source there: EnEV annex 1 table 3). We suggest the basement ceiling area from the footprint, changeable.
- Windows. Estimated window area (facade × window share) with the existing U-value of your construction-year class, replacement with Uw 0.95 (eligible, BEG EM minimum requirement) or a Uw range 1.0 to 1.3 (simpler replacement, sample calculation S10192). No PScoat window product, therefore no investment/payback for this.
- Photovoltaics. Official roof surfaces (NRW/Hesse, pitch/azimuth from the surface normal) or a 35° gable-roof assumption from the footprint, covered with modules (1.95 m²/430 Wp, usable roof share according to planning value), annual yield live via PVGIS v5.3 (Joint Research Centre, European Commission), savings from 30 % self-consumption (HTW Berlin) at the current electricity price. Feed-in tariff only if an official rate exists. No PScoat PV product, therefore no investment/payback for this.
- Funding. BEG individual measures building envelope: 15 % of the eligible costs. The eligible maximum is tiered by dwelling units: €30,000 for the first dwelling unit, €15,000 each for the second to sixth, €8,000 each from the seventh; with an individual renovation roadmap (iSFP) €60,000 / €30,000 each / €15,000 each. The additional 5 percentage points of the iSFP bonus apply ONLY to the cost share above the maximum without iSFP (funding guideline of 17.08.2026, BAnz AT 27.08.2026 B1, no. 8.3.1 and 8.4.2, effective since 21.07.2026; recalculated against sample calculation S10192). Whether the bonus threshold for several dwelling units lies exactly there has not yet been conclusively clarified; we calculate cautiously. The bonus for particularly inefficient buildings (worst performing buildings) is additionally possible from 2027 and not included here. Only if the package falls below the minimum U-values (exterior wall ≤0.20, top-floor ceiling ≤0.14 W/(m²K)). Consultant costs: specialist planning/construction supervision €600 (50 % funded), iSFP €2,000 minus €650 grant. Application before the project starts (the supply or service contract only under the resolutory or suspensive condition of the funding approval, no. 9.2.1); an energy efficiency expert must be involved as early as the application and confirms the minimum requirements.
- Your own inputs (optional). Efficiency or seasonal performance factor of the heating replace the default value of your heating type as long as they are within plausible limits (boiler 0.5 to 1.2 · heat pump 1.5 to 7 · direct electric heating 0.9 to 1.0); otherwise the default applies and the result page says so. The SEER of the air conditioner replaces the default assumption there (seasonal performance factor 3.0) where cooling is calculated: electricity for cooling = cooling demand ÷ SEER; values above 10 are treated as a US figure in Btu/Wh (÷ 3.412). With “sq ft” only areas are converted (1 m² = 10.7639 sq ft), internally m² is used. Without an address you can choose a country: climate from NASA POWER or a rough climate zone and the country's energy prices, reference point capital city.
- Payback with rising energy prices. In addition to the payback above: with 3 % energy price increase per year (without interest), total over 25 years approx. 36.5 times the savings in the first year (sample calculation S10192).
Estimate based on official building and climate data. You receive binding values in the offer after on-site measurement – with a U-value guarantee for each package. The range approx. 50–70 % less heating energy on average when insulating facade and attic floor is an average from case studies; your home may be below or above depending on its condition.
